The knee is the largest and arguably the
most complex joint in the body, and also one of the most easily injured.
It consists of the lower end of the thighbone
(femur), which rotates upon the upper end of the shinbone (tibia), and
the knee cap (patella) that slides in a groove on the end of the femur.
The knee also contains four major ligaments, which help control motion
by connecting bones and bracing the joint against abnormal types of motion.
Other parts of your knee, like cartilage, serve to cushion your knee or
help it absorb shock during motion.
When you arrive at NPC&TC your knee problem
will be assessed by one of our highly skilled physiotherapists. You will
then be given appropriate treatment. Irrespective of your disorder, we
tend toward a holistic approach to treatment so some of the exercises
you might be given may surprise you as we could find problems elsewhere
in your body that might be having an adverse effect on your knee problem
or recovery from surgery.
We have a fully equipped modern cardio-vascular and resistance-training
suite and hydrotherapy so be prepared to work hard, be educated and gain
the benefit from your labours and our experience!!!! |
