People cope with stress in very different ways. Some people 'need' a degree of stress to motivate themselves and function better. Stress to one person might only be a frustration to someone else. |

Recognising how you deal
with stressful situations is useful in formulating coping strategies.
At
the Police Convalescent Centre, we aim to educate above all else. Our variety
of exercise programmes all help people to deal with their discomfort
which
is a step towards 'self-management'. We provide education regarding specific
stretching and relaxation techniques, enabling people to employ strategies
within their every day lives. |

A combination of breathing, stretches and visualisation,
for instance, can be used within an office environment as well as at home.
Finding an acceptable level of aerobic exercise boosts the cardiovascular
system, as well as the nervous and immune systems. A combination of exercise
and 'time out' will promote a healthier system in general and the mind
will be more alert. For further information, try - http://www.nhsplus.nhs.uk/your_health/stress.asp The NPC&TC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites. |
