How do I apply or get more information?
Depending on the force with which you serve, forms are available from either Occupational Health and Welfare Departments, or Federation Offices.

More information is available from Sheila Kellett, the Trust Administrator:

How much am I entitled to?
The value of a grant is dependent on the family income. A weekly grant will initially be paid to each child until the Financial Circumstances’ Form has been completed and returned to us, when the payment may be adjusted.

Are grants only available for my children if I die on duty?
No, grants are available to the dependants of officers who lose their lives whilst on or off duty.

I’m an officer serving in Scotland. How do the changes affect me?
Provided you have previously paid into the St Georges Fund and will continue contributing to the new charity, you are also now entitled to the benefits of the old Northern Police Orphans Trust. Therefore, grants will be available to men and women over the age of 19 years who have lost a police officer parent, but who are unable to earn a living as a result of having special needs. School leavers’ payments will also be available to your dependants.

Are payments just made to children or can widows/widowers apply?
Only children of police officers are eligible for grants. We don’t support other family members.
